Screenly Changelog Episode 8 Feature Releases: Screenly Anywhere improvements, Edge Apps branding, PDF updates, Android App launch, and more!

Welcome back to another edition of the Screenly Changelog! In Episode 8, we’re excited to highlight several new features designed to make your digital signage experience simpler, more flexible, and ready to scale. Catch up quickly with the highlights below or watch the full episode recording to see these updates in action.

Screenly Anywhere updates

Last episode, we introduced Screenly Anywhere as the easiest way to get started with digital signage-no special hardware needed. We’ve continued improving Screenly Anywhere based on user feedback. Now, it supports even more smart TVs and browser set ups, letting you quickly transform any existing screen into a digital signage player. Just launch a Screenly Anywhere screen from your online Screenly account, enter a simple pin code, and start displaying content immediately. This makes deployment perfect for teams who want to launch screens quickly, without waiting for new hardware.

Enhanced Edge Apps with custom branding

Edge Apps, Screenly’s ready-made apps for digital signage like weather widgets, clocks, or dashboards, now feature automatic branding. This means Edge Apps can match your company’s colors and logo effortlessly, creating a consistent and professional appearance across all screens. You still have full flexibility to customize these apps further if you choose, but now you can start with a polished, branded look right out of the box. Check out ready-to-go Edge Apps at the Edge Apps store.

Improved PDF support

We’ve completely rebuilt digital signage PDF handling to make displaying PDFs smoother than ever. PDFs now render natively on screens, preserving the original layout, fonts, and graphics. You can select specific pages to show, rotate content, and manage them just like any other media asset. This update makes Screenly an ideal platform for showcasing menus, presentations, or reports without having to convert PDFs to images first.

Zapier integration

Our recent digital signage Zapier integration continues to simplify content management. Zapier connects Screenly to thousands of popular apps like Google Drive, Dropbox, and Slack, automating the content upload process. Just drop your file into a connected folder or app, and your digital signage will update itself. It’s automation that keeps your screens fresh without any extra manual effort.

Enhanced browser extension

The Screenly Browser Extension for Chrome and Firefox has been updated to better handle authentication details for secure and private dashboards. If your signage needs to display secure, logged-in content, the extension captures your authenticated session securely, eliminating repeated logins and interruptions on-screen. It’s perfect for displaying internal metrics or secure information seamlessly.

Introducing the Screenly Android app

We’re excited to announce our new Android app, now available in the Google Play Store. The app turns any Android-powered smart TV or tablet into a dedicated digital signage device, bringing the power of Screenly directly to your Android hardware. Simply install, log in, and you’re ready to display your content—no additional hardware required.

Sneak Peek: New Screenly Player Max hardware

Lastly, keep an eye out for upcoming announcements about our refreshed Screenly Player Max hardware. We’re upgrading the performance, reliability, and security of our dedicated player to meet the demands of even the most complex signage deployments. More details coming soon!
