The App Store covers the common things a screen needs to show. When you need something it does not, you can build your own app and run it on Screenly like any other.

1 Where an app runs You do not host an app yourself. Screenly hosts it, capable devices pull it and run it locally, and platforms that cannot run it are sent Screenly's server-side render instead.
2 Secrets that stay secret Secrets are delivered securely to the device that needs them, so an app can sign in or call an API while the secret is never visible in the workspace.
3 Shipping and updating apps A custom app is versioned, not installed once. You publish new versions through the CLI, and Screenly delivers them to the devices running the app, the way a phone updates its apps.
