After signing in, you sometimes land on a workspace picker instead of in a workspace. It is a chooser rather than a dashboard, and it appears only when there is a choice to make.
The screen carries no title of its own, so there is nothing to look for: you either land on it or you do not.
With exactly one workspace and nothing pending, you skip it entirely, which is why most people never see it.
Workspaces
A list of every workspace you belong to. Pick one to go in.
There is a search box, which stops mattering at three workspaces and starts mattering at thirty. Nothing here shows what is inside a workspace: isolation applies in the lobby too, so this is a list of names.
You can also skip the lobby by going straight to a workspace’s own address, which is worth bookmarking if you work in one far more than the others.
Invitations
A second tab, listing invitations you have not answered yet. Each can be accepted or declined.
Accepting puts you in that workspace with the role you were given. Declining removes the invitation; somebody has to send a new one if you change your mind.
The tab reads No pending invitations when there is nothing waiting, so an invitation somebody says they sent and which is not here has gone to a different address.
Creating a workspace
Create a workspace takes a name and makes you its Owner.
A workspace created this way normally comes without a trial. The free trial is once per person, so if you already belong to a workspace, or have an invitation pending, a new one does not start another. See Free trial.
When you belong to nothing
A new account with no workspace and no invitation gets a short guide instead of a list: You’re not part of any workspace yet, with the option to create one, and a reminder of which address a colleague should send an invitation to.
That address matters. Most “I never got the invite” cases are an invitation sent to a different address from the one the account uses, and the lobby is where you can see which address you actually signed in with.
