What you need

The devices Screenly Anywhere runs on, the network access it needs, and the workspace to pair it with.

Screenly Anywhere asks for very little: a device that can display a web page, an internet connection, and a Screenly account.

A supported device

Anywhere runs on any of these.

Tip

Not sure whether your display has a computer built in? If it runs apps of its own, it does, and Anywhere can probably install directly on it with nothing to plug in.

DeviceHow it runs
Any modern browserOpen a page. Nothing to install
Android and Android TVAn app from the Google Play Store
Amazon Fire TVAn app from the Amazon Appstore
Samsung business displays (Tizen)An app installed on the display itself
LG consumer TVs (webOS)The browser built into the display
Amazon Signage StickPaired through the Amazon Signage console
ChromeOS FlexA managed kiosk app, for IT-managed fleets
WindowsA browser, in kiosk mode

If a device can open a current browser and stay awake, it can almost certainly run Anywhere.

Note

The two LG and Samsung rows are not equivalent. On Samsung we support the commercial display range rather than consumer televisions. On LG it is currently the other way round: consumer TVs work through the built-in browser, and support for LG’s commercial range is on our roadmap.

An internet connection

The device needs normal outbound internet access, the same as a phone or a computer. It only ever connects out to us, so there is nothing to open up or forward on your network.

Two things to avoid, because a screen cannot work around either:

  • A guest network with a sign-in page. A screen cannot click through a “click here to accept” page.
  • A device set to sleep or power off on a timer. Check the device’s own power settings before you mount it.
Network details for your IT team

Outbound HTTPS on port 443 for content and API traffic, and a WebSocket connection on the same port for live updates. No inbound ports, no static IP, and no public address.

If your network uses an allowlist rather than open outbound access, contact support for the current list of hostnames to permit.

A Screenly account

Signing up takes an email address and starts a free trial with no card required. You need an account before pairing, because a screen joins a specific workspace.
