Install an app

Pick one from the store, name it, fill in its settings, and it lands in your content library.

Finding one

Open Apps and go to the App store. Browse by category, or search.

Every app shows what it displays. Opening one gives you its detail page, with its author, its version, and what it needs from you.

You can also browse the full catalogue on our site before signing in.

Installing

  1. Open the app and choose Install.
  2. Give it a name. This is what you will look for in your content library later, so name it for what it shows rather than what it is: Frankfurt weather beats Weather.
  3. Fill in its settings. What you see depends on the app: a location for weather, a dashboard for a business intelligence tool, sometimes nothing at all.
  4. Choose Install again.

It appears in your list of apps and in your content library.

Naming matters more than it looks

The name is the only thing distinguishing two instances of the same app in a playlist editor. A workspace with Weather, Weather (1) and Weather (2) in it will eventually put the wrong city on the wrong wall.

Name for the configuration, not the app: Frankfurt weather, Plant 2 throughput, Reception calendar.

What happens next

The app is ordinary content from here. Add it to a playlist, give it a duration, and assign the playlist to screens.

Give it a generous duration. An app fetching live data has to load before it can show anything, so a dashboard on screen for ten seconds may spend most of that loading. Thirty or forty seconds is more realistic. See How long things play.
