Getting files in
Drag and drop. Drag one or more files onto the content library. They land wherever you drop them: the root of the library, or an open folder.
The file picker. Choose New content, stay on the Upload tab, and browse. You can select several files at once.
Programmatically. The CLI and API upload the same way the dashboard does, which is the route for a bulk import or a pipeline. See Developers.
While it uploads
Each file in a batch shows its own progress, and you can cancel one without affecting the others.
After it uploads
Screenly validates the file and processes it, which for video means re-encoding it centrally so it plays across a mixed fleet. See Supported formats.
An image is ready almost immediately. A large video takes a while. You can rename a video while it is still processing rather than waiting.
If processing fails, the notification bell names the specific item and links to it, rather than leaving you to work out which of thirty uploads did not make it.
Uploading into a folder
Open the folder first, then drop files into it. That saves moving them afterwards, which matters more than it sounds once a library is large. See Folders.
