The shape of the whole thing, before the detail.
Overview
What counts as content, every format Screenly accepts, how long each item plays, and where content actually lives.
In this section
What content is
The eleven kinds of thing you can put on a screen, and the one difference that matters: whether it is stored on the device or loaded live.
Supported formats
Every image, video and audio format Screenly accepts, what it does to them on upload, and what it rejects.
Where content lives
Uploaded files are downloaded to the device and played from local storage. Web pages and streams are not. That difference decides what happens offline.
How long things play
Each playlist item has a duration. Images and pages default to ten seconds; video and audio play for their own length.
