Connecting a screen brings it under Screenly’s management: you can assign it content and a schedule, watch its status, and control it remotely, all from the dashboard.
Every route ends the same way. The device shows a pairing code, you enter that code in the dashboard, and the screen appears in your list. What differs is how you get the device to that point, and that depends on what it runs on.
Connect it
Connect a screen asks what the screen runs on and gives you the steps for that device, then the code to enter. Come back here when it shows up in your list.
You can have a screen running in the next minute without touching any hardware. Open Screenly Anywhere in a browser tab and a pairing code appears in the tab, which pairs like any other screen. Use it to see the whole thing working before you spend time setting up a real device, and everything you build carries over when you do.
What connecting does
It consumes one license from your plan’s pool. If you are out of licenses, the connection fails and the dashboard tells you so.
Nothing else is set up, and nothing else is needed: the screen is ready to be given a playlist in step 6.
Next
Your screen is connected and waiting, with nothing to play yet. Next, put something in your content library.
