# Sign up and create your workspace


> Create your Screenly account, name your workspace, optionally invite your team, and you are ready to connect a screen.
Everything in Screenly lives inside a workspace: your screens, your content, your playlists, and the people who work on them. Before you can do anything else, you need an account and a workspace.

## Sign up

[Create an account](https://login.screenlyapp.com/sign-up) with your email address. It starts a 14-day free trial and does not ask for a card.

There is no password to choose. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, a passkey, or an existing Google, GitHub, or Microsoft account.

## Create your workspace

If you sign in and are not yet a member of any workspace, Screenly tells you so and offers to create one.

1. Click **Create workspace**.
2. Give it a name. Your company or team name is the usual choice. If you expect several workspaces later, name it for what it covers, such as a region or a business unit.
3. Optionally invite teammates by email, each with a role.
4. Click **Create**.

You land in the new workspace, ready to connect a screen.

## Roles

You can invite people now or later. Each person gets a role that decides what they can do:

| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including deleting the workspace. Assigned automatically to whoever creates it |
| Admin | Manage screens, content, playlists, and members |
| Billing Manager | Manage the subscription and billing details |
| User | Work with content and playlists |

Owner is not a role you pick at invite time. It belongs to whoever creates the workspace, and there is exactly one.

> Invite at least one other Admin early. A workspace whose only privileged member is on vacation is an avoidable problem.

## One workspace or several

One workspace is the right answer for most teams starting out, and you can add more later.

You want more than one when groups of screens should be genuinely separate: different business units, different regions, or a managed service provider running signage for several clients. Workspaces are isolated from each other, so content and screens in one are invisible from another.

Enterprise plans can link workspaces, keeping them operationally separate while sharing billing and a single pool of licenses.

> Deciding this early is easier than restructuring later. Moving screens and content between workspaces is possible, but it is work you can avoid by thinking about it once, now.
