Screens

Screens check in on their own every few minutes and report how they are doing, which is what keeps all of the above current. A problem usually shows up in your dashboard before anyone standing in front of the screen notices it.
Content
Images, video, audio, PDFs, presentations, documents, spreadsheets, live streams, and web pages.
Two kinds update themselves once they are on screen. A web page is a live URL the screen loads and keeps current, including pages behind a login. An app shows live data that refreshes on its own, such as a dashboard, a calendar, or a news feed.
Video is re-encoded when you upload, so every device gets a format it can play. Storage is unlimited on every plan.
Playlists and scheduling
- An ordered, looping rotation, with a duration per item
- Schedules live inside the playlist: by hour, by day, or by date range
- Every screen evaluates its schedule against its own local time, so 9am means 9am in each city
- Priority playlists interrupt everything else on a screen while their schedule is active
Apps
Browse the App Store for dashboards, calendars, news, weather, and more. If nothing fits, you can build your own.
Workspaces and access
- Roles that control what each person can do
- Passwordless sign-in by default
- SSO through your own identity provider
- Linked workspaces, which share billing and licenses while staying operationally separate
Security
On ScreenlyOS, the device is locked down: nobody can log into it remotely, updates are verified before they install and undo themselves if they fail, and it works with the kind of network security larger organizations require.

Everything in the dashboard is also available through an API, a command-line tool, and an MCP server for driving Screenly from an AI assistant. See the developer documentation. You can skip this entirely if it is not your job.
