A Mk1 does not start by itself after a power cut unless its BIOS is told to. On a screen nobody visits, that setting is the difference between a blip and a site visit.
Get into the BIOS
- Disconnect the power cable from the player.
- Connect a keyboard to one of the USB ports.
- Hold F2 or DEL, reconnect the power cable, and press the power button. Release the key once the BIOS appears.
Change the setting
- Move to the Chipset or Advanced tab.
- Press Enter, then set State or State After G3 to S0.
- Move to the last tab and choose the option to save and exit.
Some Mk1 BIOS versions need one more change:
- Move to the Boot tab.
- Find Auto Power and enable it.
- Save and exit.
Check it worked
Pull the power at the wall, wait, and restore it. The player should boot on its own and return to your content with nobody touching it.
Test this before the player is mounted behind a display.
