Players use DHCP by default. A static address takes one of two routes, and which routes are available depends on the connection.
Wired, with a keyboard
- Connect a USB keyboard to the player.
- Press F2.
- Follow the Wired Wizard and enter the address details.
Wireless, or headless
Wireless static addressing is configuration-file only at the moment.
- Format a USB stick as FAT32.
- Open the Network Config Generator and enter the settings you need. Not every field applies to every setup.
- Generate the file. A
network.yamldownloads. - Copy it to the stick and eject the stick safely.
- Boot the player and wait for the pairing screen, which will show a network error at this stage.
- Insert the stick. The player applies the configuration and reboots.
802.1X
A static address works alongside 802.1X authentication on both wired and wireless connections, configured through the same on-screen wizard. See Connect on an enterprise network.
Note
A mistake in a hand-written network.yaml is the most common cause of the wired and wireless diagnostic errors. If a player will not come back after applying one, see Diagnostic errors.
