# Driving more than one display

> On a device with more than one display output, ScreenlyOS mirrors them by default, and we can configure them as a single joined surface for a video wall.
Some devices have more than one display output. ScreenlyOS drives all of them from the one player, so two screens do not need two devices.

## Mirrored, by default

Out of the box every output shows the same picture, with nothing to configure. For screens showing the same content in one space, that is the whole setup.

## As one joined surface

ScreenlyOS can also treat the outputs as a single canvas, so the displays behave as one surface. A video wall, without a video wall controller in the rack.

We have confirmed this on our own Player Max, and on a Scala Player-SP driving two monitors as one joined canvas from its two HDMI outputs. Apps that render dashboards lay themselves out across the full canvas rather than being cropped or repeated.

It is not a self-serve feature yet. The physical layout still has to be described by hand: how the screens are arranged, which output feeds which panel, how they are oriented, and what to do about the bezels between them. Getting any of that slightly wrong produces a picture that is subtly scrambled and annoying to diagnose from across the room.

If you want a video wall, talk to us rather than planning around it.

## What it needs from the hardware

The device has to have the outputs. This is not something a software setting adds to a player with one HDMI port, so it is a question about the hardware in front of you.

[Hardware](/docs/screenlyos/hardware/) has a page for each supported device.
