# Copy settings between screens

> Clone one screen's settings, labels, and playlist assignments onto another. It overwrites the target completely.
From the screens list, open the menu on a screen's row and choose **Copy**, then pick the target.

It carries three things across: the display settings, the labels, and the playlist assignments. Which means the target screen ends up showing exactly what the source screen shows, configured exactly the same way.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The target's existing settings, labels, and assignments are replaced, not merged. Anything that was only on the target is gone.

## What it is for

Setting up the fifth screen in a room. The first one takes a while to get right: rotation, overscan, the labels, the playlists. The rest are one action each.

It is also the fastest way to replace a failed player. Pair the new device, copy from a screen in the same room, and it comes up configured. Do this before deleting the old one if the old one is still in the list, since it is the better source.

## What it does not carry

The name, the location, and the notes stay as they are on the target. Those describe the physical installation and are exactly what should not be cloned.
