# Invite members

> Invitations go by email, carry a role and an optional expiry date, and can be resent or cancelled while pending.
Under **Settings**, then **Members**, in the **Invitations** section. Choose **Invite member**.

You give an email address, a role, and optionally an **Active until** date. Owner and Admin can invite; nobody else sees the section.

## What the invitee gets

An email with a link. Following it and signing in adds them to this workspace directly. No new workspace is created for them, and no free trial starts.

Invitations come from **hello@screenly.io**. If one has not arrived, that is the address to look for in a spam folder, or to have IT allow.

## The role

Choose from **Admin**, **Billing Manager**, or **User**. It defaults to User, which is the right answer more often than not, and it can be changed later without re-inviting.

Owner is not an invitable role. Ownership moves by transfer, to somebody who is already a member. See [Managing members](/docs/workspaces/people/manage-members/).

An Admin doing the inviting can only offer Billing Manager or User.

## Active until

An optional date after which their access ends automatically. See [Temporary access](/docs/workspaces/people/temporary-access/).

## Pending invitations

The section lists everything not yet accepted, and lets you **resend** or **cancel**. An invitation that has passed its window shows as **Expired**; send a fresh one.

Cancelling an invitation is instant and takes nothing away from anyone, since an unaccepted invitation grants nothing.

## Seat limits

On **Starter**, a workspace has two seats. Above it, unlimited. Creating an invitation is refused if it would take you past the limit, so free a seat first, or move up a plan. Disabled members do not count. See [Plans for Screenly](/docs/get-started/plans/plans-for-screenly/).
