Active until is a date after which a member’s access ends automatically. It defaults to Always, meaning access does not expire.
Set it when inviting somebody, or later from any member’s row menu. The date has to be in the future, and access ends when that day ends.
What it is for
Anybody whose access has a known end: a contractor on a fixed engagement, an agency running a campaign, an auditor, a temporary member of staff, a supplier setting up a site.
The reason it matters is that removing access is the step that gets forgotten. A date set now happens whether or not anyone remembers.
What happens when it expires
The member is disabled, not deleted. They cannot sign in to the workspace, everything they made stays where it is, and the seat is freed on Starter.
Re-enabling later is immediate, with no new invitation.
Seeing who is on a clock
The members list colours status: green for active, orange with a date for a member whose access expires, red for disabled. A glance at the list is an access review.
Worth doing that glance occasionally anyway. Members with Always and no obvious reason are the ones that accumulate.
