# Screenly > Screenly is cloud-based digital signage. A dashboard manages content, playlists, and schedules for any number of screens, and two pieces of software run on the screens themselves: ScreenlyOS, Screenly's own operating system for its players and other supported hardware, and Screenly Anywhere, an app for devices that already have a system of their own. ## What Screenly is Screenly, Inc. builds and runs the service. You upload images, video, and PDFs, or point a screen at a web page, a live stream, or one of the ready-made apps (dashboards, calendars, news, clocks). Content goes into playlists; a playlist carries a schedule and is assigned to screens directly or through labels; screens pick changes up on their next check-in and report their health back. Uploaded files and schedules are cached on the device, so a screen keeps playing through an internet outage and only live content such as web pages pauses until the connection returns. Every screen connects the same way: the device shows a pairing code, you type it into the dashboard, and the screen appears in your list. Setup from nothing to a screen playing content takes about fifteen minutes. ## Two ways to run it on a screen ScreenlyOS replaces everything on the device, so the device runs Screenly and nothing else. It is built on Ubuntu Core, updates itself over the air with signed transactional updates that roll back on failure, makes outbound connections only, has no open ports and no remote login, and supports 802.1X, static IP, mutual TLS, and Tailscale for reaching private networks. It runs on the Screenly Player (Raspberry Pi based, up to 1080p), the Screenly Player Max (Intel, up to 4K, TPM and Secure Boot), Raspberry Pi 4 and 5, Scala players, and Sharp large-format displays. Screenly Anywhere is an app for hardware you already own: Samsung Tizen commercial displays (SSSP), LG webOS consumer televisions, Android and Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, the Amazon Signage Stick, ChromeOS Flex as a managed kiosk, and any current browser, which is also how Windows runs it. The dashboard, content, playlists, and labels are identical either way; what differs is how much of the device Screenly controls. ## Plans Prices are in US dollars, per screen per month. Starter is $15 billed annually or $17 monthly, for up to 5 screens and 2 users, at up to 1080p. Business is $24 billed annually or $27 monthly, with unlimited screens and users, custom user permissions, and 4K. Enterprise is priced per deployment on an annual contract, from 25 screens, and adds SSO and SAML, audit logs, linked workspaces with shared billing and licenses, a support SLA, and a dedicated account manager.
