Image fields for apps, and a warning for outdated PDF playback

Apps that need an image as part of their configuration, like a logo or background, can now expose an image upload field directly in their settings, instead of requiring a URL to be pasted in.

Warning for outdated players with PDF content

PDF support requires ScreenlyOS version 3.8.1 or later. If a screen is running an older ScreenlyOS version and its playlist includes PDF content, the screen’s detail page now clearly warns you that content won’t display, instead of leaving you to notice a blank or broken screen on your own.

Fixes

  • Fixed a rare crash during playlist generation for screens with encrypted app secrets and an unusual security key. The affected app is now skipped instead of failing the whole playlist.
  • 4K video transcoding’s subscription check now works correctly for workspaces billed through Stripe, not just our previous billing provider.
  • The “verify your email” link sent on signup, and when resending verification, now correctly opens the verification page instead of pointing at the wrong address.

Improvements

  • Simplified invitation email subject lines.

Fixed app settings not saving after an update

If an app you’d installed added a new configuration setting, editing that installation’s settings could silently drop whatever you typed into the new field. The form appeared to save normally, but the value reverted to its default the next time you loaded the page, since the installation had never stored a value for that setting before and the save request quietly matched nothing.

This is now fixed: values you enter for a newly added setting save correctly, whether the installation has been running for years or you just connected it.

We also hardened the settings page itself, so an installation with no saved settings at all no longer risks showing a broken page instead of a working form.

New invitation workflow, and stronger dashboard security

Adding a teammate to your workspace now sends them an email invitation with an expiring link to accept, instead of creating their account directly. Pending invites can be resent or canceled from Settings > Workspace. Invitation emails link to the correct workspace address and clearly state how long the invite stays valid.

Stronger dashboard credential security

We strengthened how the dashboard authenticates with our API to reduce the risk of credential theft. There’s no change to how you use the dashboard.

Fixes

  • Fixed the Power BI token caching we added in January: dashboards on screens no longer intermittently fail to load once that cached token had expired.

Security and stability updates to core dependencies

We updated several core dependencies across the dashboard, sign-in flow, and screenshot service to their latest secure and stable versions.
