26.8.3
- Removed Device management Breaking change
Landscape, Portrait, Full HD, UHD and Anywhere are no longer automatic labels
The five labels Screenly maintained from a screen's own properties are now ordinary labels you own. They keep the screens they were on and no longer update themselves.
- Removed Developers API Breaking change
The label type field on the API now has three values instead of nine
With automatic labels gone, the API's label type enum drops landscape, portrait, full_hd, uhd, anywhere and virtual, leaving all-screens, manual and screen.
- Improvement Apps
The App Store and your installed apps are now separate sections
Browsing available apps and managing the ones you have installed are two sidebar entries instead of one page with a button between them.
- Fix Content management
Pages behind a login are no longer turned away before they load
Some pages that need a saved session to sign in were turned away before they loaded, so the screens showing them displayed nothing at all.
- Fixes and improvements
Sidebar and sign-in icons show up in Safari
Icons in the sidebar and on the sign-in buttons that appeared blank in Safari now show up.
26.8.2
- Fix
Times in the dashboard follow your device's clock
The dashboard reads 12-hour or 24-hour time from your own device instead of mixing fixed formats.
- Improvement Monitoring Developers API Breaking change
last_ping is no longer null for a screen that has never connected
On API v4, a screen's last_ping is always a timestamp, seeded from when the screen was created, so a null value no longer marks a screen that has never checked in.
26.8.1
- Fix Content management
Pages saved with the browser extension show the signed-in view again
A page added through the extension with Save Authentication captured the logged-out view, or stopped showing the signed-in one after a while, when Screenly rendered it on our servers.
- Improvement Security
Signing in looks and behaves like the rest of Screenly
The sign-in pages were rebuilt to match the dashboard, with passkey errors that appear as notifications.
26.8.0
- Improvement
A new look for the dashboard, with navigation in one place
The dashboard has been redesigned, and everything that used to sit in the top bar now lives in a single grouped sidebar.
- Removed
Global search and the New menu have been removed
The search box that spanned screens, content and playlists is gone, along with the New quick-create menu, both of which lived in the removed top bar.
- Improvement Content management
Uploads keep running while you move around the dashboard
Uploads keep running when you leave the Content section, and pages no longer reload as you move around Content.
- Improvement
Workspace and account settings work like the rest of Screenly
Settings pages now use the same horizontal tabs as playlists and screens, with branding folded into the Workspace tab and one save bar per tab.
- New Apps
Apps can ask you to pick a Slack channel
An app that works with Slack can now use your workspace's Slack connection and offer a channel picker in its settings.
- Fixes and improvements
Playlist transitions show a preview, and other improvements
Transitions are animated preview cards, a playlist with no screens explains how to assign them, and the dashboard has a new, faster-loading typeface.
26.7.1
- Improvement Monitoring
Screens show connectivity and content status separately
The Screens list replaces its last heartbeat and status columns with a plain-language Status and a Content status column saying whether a screen has what it should be playing.
- Improvement Monitoring Developers API Breaking change
Screens with nothing scheduled no longer report Inactive
On API v4 and v4.1, a reachable, in-sync screen with nothing scheduled now reports Online instead of Inactive.
- Removed Monitoring
Typing a status into the Screens search no longer filters by it
The Screens search box no longer matches status words. The status cards above the list filter by status instead.
- Fix
Failed requests explain themselves in plain language
When something fails in the dashboard, the message you see is a plain sentence about what went wrong, including a clear one for uploads that are too large.
- Fixes and improvements
Home loads even when its feeds don't, and other fixes
Home falls back when its YouTube or blog feed fails, blog titles show punctuation correctly, and the error page's Go to Dashboard button works.
